About DanSvinConsult

We are three specialists who work together to provide specialized insight for pig farming in Europe, Russia, and Asia. Our aim is to bring you the knowhow and expertise that has made Danish pig farming an international success. We focus on sustainable farming for maximum economic and environmental benefits.
Our Company

Between the three of us, we have a total of nearly 100 years of hands on experience with pigs!

We have the educations, the training and knowhow, and we offer everything from one-year consulting contracts for existing pig farms with 2-3 visits over the year and free Skype counseling throughout the year.

Thanks to our extensive experience and network in the industry, we can also offer to design entire housing facilities, feed mills and slaughterhouses in cooperation with our partners. So do not be afraid that the task is too big for us, we know our own limitations and when to use our good partners to the extent necessary, but with only a single contact person!

And in case of health problems, we have two experienced Veterinarians within the company.

Breeding

The genetics are essential for good production results! In Denmark, the Danish pig producers managed to work together crisscross and thereby achieved the world's best production results, without the use of gene modification, gene splicing and other modern technology. Simply by breeding for the traits you have set up as breeding objectives and then use genes across the country in all directions to produce all the features you wanted!
Sows are now a hybrid (first-time cross) of Landrace and Yorkshire. For boar you often use one Duroc or Duroc / Yorkshire cross. This has been identified the ideal finishers that are robust, grow rapidly, have small feed consumption and good meat content. It goes without saying that it requires a lot to keep track of which pigs are to be used for breeding and what they are inseminated / mated with. We can help keep track of that.

Economy & Growth

Even if you have a good production and make money, it is always possible to make more money on the same production.

New genes or just control of breeding can cause feed consumption to be reduced, growth is increased, and the number of pigs at the sow increases.

New food can make production cheaper and provide greater pig welfare, and less consumption of drugs.

Management can minimize mortality and the number of the sows’ non-productive days, as well as minimize the consequences of all kinds of accidents.

Maybe processes can be made more appropriate: Some routines may be saved or simplified. Consideration may reduce energy consumption and so on. The list of things that can be optimized to create more profit is inexhaustible!

Environment & Sustainability

A pig production has a lot of waste which somehow must be handled.

The pigs' feces contain a lot of nutrients that can be exploited to e.g. biogas and fertilizer.

If they are not handled properly, they can have a negative impact on air and water around the farm. It cannot be avoided that some animals die, either, and this must also be addressed. It can all be done in different ways, depending on the volume of production and how much money to invest in it.

Finally, there will be a release of ammonia from the ventilation air. It is therefore not appropriate to place production near a city. One may also consider whether to apply filters.
