Find yourself in the open

Hejrede Friluftsgård is a haven for nature lovers who like to spend time experiencing nature.

For us it is important that your experience makes you happy - whether it is campfire food, bird watching or photography, see below.

Activities are very important in our everyday life, and therefore we are open by appointment only - so book or call first, even if you just want to visit the place.

CAMP FIRE FOOD FOR FUN
RAKU BURNING
BIOBLITZ WITH SMARTPHONE

The food tastes so much better when you have cooked it over the fire! And it is for an extraordinary experience to hear the frogs croak in competition in the pond while chopping and boiling. Pancakes baked over the fire for dessert puts the icing on the cake.

HORSE RIDING

The sun almost burns the skin, and the heat hangs heavily. Still, some people stand around a red-hot furnace, which is more than 900 degrees hot. And after they stand shrouded in smoke, they put red-hot ceramic into sawdust and shavings. What are they up to?

No, it is not because of sunstroke that the participants stand in the sun, it is because they are raku glazing their own personal soup mug. Soon they will eat vegetable soup cooked over an open fire. Then they can enjoy both nature, soup, and the shade at the open-air farm shelters.

You get very close to the forces of nature, when you yourself take the dish from the oven and put it in sawdust.

Raku-firing will this year be held only by appointment, as there are only few of the raw mugs in various forms.

If you are you on horseback in nature the experience is totally different, as the animals in the forest and fields do not see you as a threat. Therefore we have decided to buy Icelandic horses that love to ride into the wild. Moreover, many Icelandic horses have two extra ‘gear’, gaits and tölt.

Our three Icelandic horses are specially chosen because of their good mind and sociability. We paid special attention to finding horses that they were safe to handle even for children. We have horses with very good temperament, so it does not matter whether you are experienced or a beginner.

In summer, the horses also are used in the Summer Nature School, we have as part of the Active Summer program, so it is important to book well in advance if you want to ride them in the fields or in the wild.

Here yoy can try Denmark's newest app for sharing nature experiences, Natural Window, when exploring the area. Who can find and determine the most species? Who finds something rare? Where is the most interesting animals? You also share the experience on Facebook.
